Private Charter Schools and ISPs

If you are looking for a legal way to homeschool with lots of flexibility, here is a Private Independent Study Program (ISP) that might be right for you.  All legal records required by the State of California are maintained for you, so you are free to homeschool the way that fits you and your children. The cost is $200 per family, with a $25 upfront charge for paperwork (deducted from the yearly fee). BayShore School ISP offers resources, guidance, and encouragement to its enrolled families. We do not offer a program for those who need detailed lesson plans or daily supervision. Enrollment with BayShore School requires self-motivation, the desire to release rigid notions about learning and children, and a sense of humor.

Heritage Christian School is an educational ministry specializing in independent study for home education families. Heritage provides support and accountability through our parent meetings, class day settings and experienced mentors.

Shepherd's Heart Enrichment Tutorial, a Christian-based ISP in Vista, offers HS Family Businesses, co-op classes and activities, unit studies, a music program, support nights, and more. It's mission is to assist home schooled children and their families by providing quality classes that enrich their education in a safe and loving atmosphere.

Public Charter Schools and ISPs

Innovations Academy Charter School is a public charter school, serving K-8, where students learn in an environment that respects intellectual, emotional, and social intelligence. Its multidimensional curriculum supports the innate human desire to learn. In addition to the traditional full-time (five-day) program, homeschool families may choose between the two- and three-day programs.

California Virtual Academy (CAVA) is a network of tuition-free public charter schools that gives parents the curriculum, tools, and support they need to deliver a high-quality, well-rounded education to their children at home. The Classical Academy in North San Diego County, is a dynamic, tuition-free public charter school serving grades K-8. The Classical Academy is passionate about providing the best education possible for students to become successful thinkers, communicators, and achievers. Dehesa Charter School, is a public school that serves homeschooling families in Riverside, Orange, and San Diego Counties. As an independent study program, Dehesa matches family with a credentialed and experienced Educational Facilitator (EF). The parent, student, and EF collaborate to create a personalized learning program that meets state standards and brings out the self-motivated learner in each student.

Escondido Charter High School (ECHS) is a back-to-basics school serving students in San Diego County and adjacent counties. ECHS is a public school (no tuition). ECHS provides a safe and orderly learning environment through small class sizes and individualized educational programs that meet the needs of students from all types of backgrounds and academic skill levels. The courses have been approved by the University of California System.

Heritage Digital Academy provides an alternative to traditional classroom-based programs and recognizes that different students learn in different ways. Heritage Digital Academy helps students meet their educational goals by tailoring the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual.

Julian Charter School, serving grades K-12, provides personalized curricula, online blended courses, online tutoring, a wide variety of enrichment options including, and much more.

The Learning Choice is dedicated to assisting parents who school their children at home. TLC provides books and instructional materials, a certified teacher to work in partnership with parents, special student allowance for enrichment classes, field trips and other activities, including: Science Labs, Math Labs, a full-day option of student classes as well as a wide variety of other services.

Pacific View Charter School, which believes in empowering child through personalized learning, serves students and parents in the areas of San Diego, Riverside, Orange and Imperial County. Through the one-on-one personalized learning model, the school provides a partnership with parents, students, and staff.

The Southern California Connections Academy is a leading national provider of high quality, highly accountable K-10 virtual public schools operated in partnership with charter schools and school districts. EUSD Home Education Program provides parents and children in K-8 an alternative form of education. Parents who elect to homeschool have the opportunity to provide an individualized educational plan which meets the unique needs of their child(ren). The Home Education Program staff work directly with parents to ensure effective home instruction.

Mountain Valley Home Study serves students in grades K-12 on the Ramona Community School campus. Home study students in all grades may study exclusively at home or take advantage of the two day on-campus option. The program is provided by means of an independent study enrollment agreement, which is signed and entered into by both parents and students with the school district. This agreement places a significant responsibility on the family, but can be a very rewarding and successful experience for those who make the commitment.

Mountain View Learning Academy is a hybrid educational model that allows for individualized attention and learning. Ongoing parent/teacher collaboration is the "foundation" of this program, wherein assignments are designed to meet each student's individual needs. On-site classes are offered Tuesday through Friday, which provide an opportunity to receive direct instruction in academic areas such as language-arts/writing, hands-on science, and mathematics. On the alternate days, students work individually to meet their educational goals. All learning is strongly supported by the credentialed teachers on staff.

Mt. Everest Academy, serving K-12 Independent Study, is a fully accredited atypical school that assists parents who wish to have their children learn at home using state-adopted curricula with the support, guidance, and supervision of credentialed teachers. Mt. Everest Academy recently earned the Exemplary Independent Study Recognition.

The Poway Home Education/ISP, serving students in K-8, is designed to assist parents who wish to home school their children. The program provides parents with the appropriate curriculum and materials necessary to aid in the instructional process. Parents and students are required to meet with the teacher to review assigned work.

San Marcos Homeschool Co-op provides home educating families with social support and extra - curricular activities. At the Co-op, students are able to make friends, experience classroom learning and interact with other adults, and parents enjoy the supportive atmosphere and can use their talents to help other children.
